- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar (or honey/maple syrup)
- 1/4 cup melted butter or oil
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup milk (or buttermilk)
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
In a large bowl, mash the bananas with a fork until smooth.
Add sugar, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Stir well.
In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently. If desired, fold in nuts or any other add-ins.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the bread rest for 10 minutes before removing from the pan. Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.

For a healthier version, try substituting sugar with stevia or maple syrup and using whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour.

You can also add chocolate chips or dried fruits for added flavor.
